A rare and exceptional vintage Peruvian folk art pottery harvest vase.
Hand-crafted in Peru, most likely Ayacucho region / Quinua, the South American primitive executed in distinctive traditional style yet by far the most complex example we've ever come across.
Featuring a handmade sculptural red clay / terra-cotta zoomorphic vasiform vessel with two handles, mounted with elaborate hand woven vine wicker / rattan from the rim to the base, decorated with hand-painted decoration, accented with pairs of sculpted figural birds surrounding the entire vessels shoulder adding a charming whimsical elegance and warmth!

Condition:
In overall very good vintage condition with typical folk art imperfections, restorations, character and rustic charm. Wear commensurate with age, use, and handling, including some minor losses to finish and evidence of past repairs particular to one of the bird’s heads. Nothing that detracts from the aesthetics or functionality but only adds to the overall authenticity and charm!
