Standing Akan Ghana female figure, early 20th century, Africa. Intense expression with large eyes.
Female figure with one hand on her breast, representing presenting nourishment from the ancestors. One outstretched arm carved separately and still attached, original to the piece. May have originally held a child.
She has an expressive face with large open eyes and mouth, traces of white and black pigments. There is a stabile crack down right side of body. Measures: Large, at 18 1/2 inches high.
