About the Item
Recycled acrylic and mica chandelier. Taking inspiration from the earth, minerals and fossils, Fissure Chandelier was designed by Simon Stewart as an exploration of form, structure and materiality. Through his fascination of light, Stewart wanted to create a ghost- like fossilised structure whilst incorporating the natural materiality of mica. The rare, over-sized mica sheets are suspended and intersected by recycled acrylic that have fissures which appear as fossils suspended in the acrylic when illuminated.

Founded in 2009 by founder Simon Stewart, Charles Burnand is an established bespoke design firm that continues to find, develop and nurture the very best of Europe's artisans, combining their skills in unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Heavily influenced by the Mid-Century Modern Italian design era, Charles Burnand designs and makes lighting and furniture using Murano glass, straw marquetry, gypsum, mica and other natural materials as well as collaborating with AD-100 designers to produce limited edition pieces. Featured in the Architectural Digest coverage of SALON A+D in November 2018, the ICONs collection launched by Charles Burnand epitomises the creative abilities of the company.
