About the Item

Ceiling lamp no 2296 by Italian grandmaster Max Ingrand for the Milanese glass and lighting company Fontana Arte in Glass, Metal and beautifully patinated polished brass in very good condition. An important example of midcentury Italian lighting design and a real classic piece of art now available for anyone who likes Max Ingrand and his use of pale green / blue glass and other high quality materials Very well proportioned ceiling lamp with a ceiling mount that still has some classic 30's shapes. The rounded forms of the glass and the brass give it a soft and friendly yet stately appearance. The lamp is in good condition with no chips or damages. The blue / green glass gives this version no 2296 a clinical and clean appearance so it would do very well in a bathroom, sauna, or clinic. Also very suitable to use in combination with marble or white walls so the colours , blue white and brass, can contrast nicely. With it's 18 bulbs it can spread a lot of light so if you are looking for a luxurious piece of art to lighten up a larger space then this may be the one ( if you put in normal bulbs they are dimmable). Also very suitable above larger rectangular or oval tables to create the perfect French Brasserie atmosphere. On request we can adjust the height as you wish but for shipping purposes it might be smarter to do that locally. (But it's doable any metal worker / electrician can do this). The electrical wiring has not been checked but the lamp is in working condition. The lamp is documented in 'Quaderni di Fontana Arte' and various other books. (I have a picture on request).

Copper and Brass Ceiling Lamp, Scandinavia, 1930's
By Hans-Agne Jakobsson
Located in Uithoorn, NL
Beautifully patinated ceiling lamp with lots of resemblance with the work of Hans Agne Jacobsson but then more beautiful. Great shadowplay and warm vibrant light. Both the copper and the brass are very nicely patinated creating an organge / red light. Interesting geometrical figures and cleverly built: the source of light (the bulb) is hidden inside the lamp so don't expect a sea of light coming out of this one. For cosy corners...

Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte brass opaline glass chandelier 1955
By Fontana Arte, Max Ingrand
Located in Paris, IDF
This brass and opal glass chandelier, designed by Max Ingrand for the iconic Italian lighting manufacturer Fontana Arte, dates back to 1955. Crafted with noble materials and clean lines, this piece reminiscent of a butterfly bowtie epitomises mid-century Italian furniture. The lampshade consists of four curved opal glass blades joining at the center of the chandelier, each half-encased in delicate brass. This blend of materials produces a sophisticated and diffused light, fostering a welcoming ambiance in any interior. This chandelier has been fully restored and electrified, and is found in a beautiful condition, ready to enlighten any space. Literature : Vitrum, n. 100, February 1958, page 38. Max Ingrand (1908-1968), French master glassmaker and designer, began his journey in the art of stained glass at Jacques Grüber's workshop. Trained at the Beaux-Arts and the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, he initially restored stained glass windows destroyed during the war and fulfilled state commissions. After World War II, he reopened his workshop in Paris, emerging as a prodigy of light and transparency, as well as a talented designer. As the artistic director of the prestigious Italian lighting manufacturer Fontana Arte from 1954 until his death in 1967, he crafted iconic lighting fixtures...
