About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this original circa 1810 French Empire Cheval mirror with gold gilt bronze candlestick holders and fittings The mirror is in a luxury flamed mahogany veneer over oak frame. Supported on two columns surmounted with finely incised bronze urns, and with fine bronze rings at the base of the columns. Standing on arched legs with original brass castors and original mercury glass plate The mirror has had the frame dismantled, the joints reworked then glued and clamped, its more solid now than it’s ever been. The veneer has distressed areas especially around the curved sections to the base on the outside edges, its in very good order as it is, it can be restored to gallery condition for a fee Dimensions: Height 176.5cm Width 107cm Depth 59.5cm This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
