A nice, decorative and highly coveted wall mirror, known as the Thomas Chippendale Phoenix mirror these are quintessentially English, designed by the greatest furniture maker in England’s history, Chippendale chairs sell in the millions.
This mirror is what’s called and original patina piece meaning it has been lightly restored to include a clean wax and polish however not fully restored to cover the age-related patination. The timber has some light timber shrinkage cracks, some losses and so on as expected with a 140+ year old piece. The mirror plate is thick and has some desirable foxing, it has a gold gilt surround, and the Phoenix is course gilt as well.
I have another of these which is larger in Walnut listed under my other items.
