A nice, decorative and highly coveted wall mirror, known as the Thomas Chippendale Shell mirror these are quintessentially English, designed by the greatest furniture maker in England’s history, Chippendale chairs sell in the millions. This mirror is what’s called an original patina piece meaning it has been lightly restored to include a clean wax and polish however not fully restored to cover the age-related patination. The timber has some light timber shrinkage cracks, some losses and so on as expected with a 160+ year old piece. The mirror plate is thick and has some desirable foxing, it has a carved surrounding border, and the Shell is of course gilt as well. I have another of these which is smaller in mahogany which is listed under my other items. Dimensions Height:- 67.5cm Width:- 72.5cm Depth:- 3cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask Any questions please feel free to ask before you bid Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
