French Georgian Style Mirror, Late 18th C.

A French mirror with fabulous carvings and original paint & gilt from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique mirror from France features an exaggerated arch pediment top with dentil molding beneath the top trim and pair of rosy-cheeked cherub faces carved within a cloudy-ray sunburst featured prominently at top center. The arched mirror is flanked within Roman Corinthian style columns, and bell-flower trim molding adorns the inner surround. The lower frame is embellished with a floral and bow-tied ribbon motif. This piece retains its original paint and gilt finish, with old crackled finish and patina; a lovely show of its history and age. The mirror is later, not original. This late 18th century...
