Large Antique Gold Gilt French Louis Philippe Mirror

About
A beautiful large Louis Philippe mirror that was made in France, circa 1880.
The mirror has a pine frame smoothened with plaster. The glass is surrounded by a classic pearl beading and the lower stretcher is engraved with a cross engraving. The mirror frame is partially gold leaf gilt and partially gold paint gilt. The combination of these two types of gilding is usual in French mirrors from this era. The goal was to achieve more definition by slight variations in gold color and shine.

- ConditionWear consistent with age and use. The mirrorframe is restored in our atelier. It has been repaired to the most elevated upper and right side. The mirror plate is renewed. The old mirror plate had too much wear and was mercury silvered with liquid mercury in the frame.
