About the Item

This Swedish Empire style trumeau exudes a simple refinement in its symmetry and composure. A simple pediment sits atop a painted black and decorative gilt cornice. The top portion is painted black and embellished with a decorative cast brass piece of ormolu. Bright wood frames the whole and sports a fantastic patina. Light signs of foxing are visible in the original mirror plate. Complementary to the top, the bottom is also painted black and fixed with floral ormolu. Circa 1820.
