Angelo Bragalini repoussé silver-plated copper mirror - Italy, 1960s
About the Item
Italian artist and designer Angelo Bragalini (1913–1994), best recognised for his talents as a sculptor, was also a technically skilled metalsmith. Set pieces for filmmaker Federico Fellini and gold work for the Vatican were quietly fabricated in his Bologna workshop.
This sizeable square mirror has a rounded profile, offering gentle projection from the wall. Repoussé refers to a decorative metalwork technique in which the material is hammered from the inside, here giving a consistent textural interest.

Brutalist Mirror in hammered copper in the style of A. Bragalini, Italy 1960s
Located in Roma, IT
A mid-century mirror with an unusual and sinuous shape, the circular shape becomes three-dimensional, rising and falling, creating waves and craters just like the lunar surface.

He also collaborated on the creation of scenographic elements for iconic films such as 8 1/2 (1963) and Juliet of the Spirits...
