About the Item
A sensational and extremely decorative Italian 19th century Louis XV st. Giltwood and Mirror king size headboard. This most unique upholstered headboard displays a wonderful U shape punctuated by a large scale Giltwood and mirrored frame which accents the top and sides. The mottled frame is adorned with bottom seashell carvings below rosettes and foliate scrolls set on a mirrored backplate. The pierced top corners showcase abundant floral and scrolled carvings with cascading flowers amidst Rocaille designs. At the top center is a stunning and richly detailed pierced Giltwood reserve of a seashell below a circular wreath and palmette crown. The reserve is flanked by large scale Rocaille designs adorned with additional floral carvings, with swaging floral garlands below.
