An exceptional, fine and impressive, unusual antique Victorian Scottish sterling silver wax jack; an addition of our ornamental silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian Scottish sterling silver wax jack has a circular shaped form. The wax jack has a plain central column surmounted with a tapering capital comprised of a cast sterling silver sprung hinged wick trimmer, accented with an inset circular taper holder to the centre of the blades. This scissor component is embellished with cast scrolling leaf designs. The lower portion of the wax jack features a circular base accented with engraved scrolling leaf decoration. An interesting and unusual antique child’s teething rattle c.1800 formed of a piece of carved and polished rich orange coral (Corallium rubrum) mounted into a two-tone yellow gold rattle with mouth-piece formed of a whistle, the collar hung with six coral beads and round two gold bells and decorated with patterned bands. Accompanied by the original red leather case lined with cream silk.
