The 'Waverley Novels,' also known as the 'Abbotsford series,' is a collection of novels by the immensely popular Sir Walter Scott. Waverley was Scott's first novel, published anonymously in 1814 when he was already an established poet. It is regarded as one of the first Western historical novels. He published his later novels anonymously under "the author of Waverley." Each volume contains an interesting introductory essay and notes by Andrew Lang.
