About the Item

Parmigiani Fleurier, 'Nubia' - an extremely fine and unique 18K pink gold pocket watch Swiss, Early 21st Century Measures: Height 9cm, width 6.5cm, depth 1.5cm Open: height 9.5cm, width 12.5cm, depth 6.5cm This beautiful timepiece is a unique, extremely fine, Eight-Day keyless hunting cased pocket watch mounted in 18K solid pink gold, made by the makers Parmigiani of Fleurier, Switzerland, inspired by the glory of Ancient Egypt, and featuring superb hand-engraved pictoral elements inside the case, and a black onyx dial. In a three-body case, the front and rear covers are engraved with two parts of a scene depicting an Egyptian lady reclining on a bed, with a leopard in the foreground, and a Nubian servant watching behind. In the background on the reverse, the Nile with a river boat is visible. In solid pink gold and black onyx, the engraving is as exquisite as the movement of the watch itself. The dial is black onyx and uniquely adorned, with Egyptian hieroglyphs for the 12, pink gold javelin hands, and a power reserve dial on the right-hand side. The movement, is a calibre 24 two-toned rhodium, 29 jewel piece, featuring a straight-line lever escapement, a self-compensating Breguet balance spring, and a micrometre regulator. Ref. U1941, movement No. 17005, case No. 2130, with dial, case, and movement signed Parmigiani Fleurier, and the engraved covers E.J.

Gilt-Bronze Clock with Enamel Numerals Attributed to Henri Picard
By Henri Picard
Located in London, GB
Gilt-bronze clock with enamel numerals attributed to Henri Picard French, circa 1860 Measures: Height 73cm, width 45cm, depth 23cm The elaborate case of this beautiful mantel clock has a large central circular dial with enamel Roman numerals for the hours and engraved on the edge with Arabic numbers for the minutes. The surmount is a gilt bronze group of Father Time, depicted as an elderly male figure seated on a circular globe. The quality throughout is exceptional, demonstrating the very best of 19th century craftsmanship. This clock is after a design by André-Charles Boulle (French, 1642-1732) and similar to examples of equally fine quality and casting known to have been made by 19th Century bronzier Henri Picard (French, fl. 1831-1864), therefore we can attribute the case to Picard. The movement is stamped for Parisian clock...
