A Victorian framed print of "SHIPS OF WAR - Screw Gun Boat" by Day and Son, Lithographers to the Queen. Plate 84: The Modern System of Naval Architecture, John Scott Russell, 1864. The bottom of the print is inscribed: LONDON. PUBLISHED JANY 1ST 1864, BY DAY & SON, LITHOGRAPHERS TO THE QUEEN Measures: Height 60 cm 23.5 in Width 71 cm 28 in John Scott Russell FRSE FRS FRSA (1808-1882) was a Scottish civil engineer, naval architect and shipbuilder who built the SS Great Eastern in collaboration with Isambard Kingdom Brunel. He made the discovery of the wave of translation that gave birth to the modern study of solitons, and developed the wave-line system of ship construction. The firm of William Day, later Day & Son, was established in 1823. In 1837 the firm was granted the status of ‘Lithographers to Queen Victoria and to the Queen Dowager, Queen Adelaide.

A bronze waterline model of the Royal Navy porpoise-class submarine HMS Finwhale (SO5). HMS Finwhale (S05) was the fifth Porpoise-class submarine of the Royal Navy. She was launched on 21 July 1959 and first commissioned on 19 August 1960. During her first commission she went further under the ice than any other submarine at the time. She was recommissioned on 27 January 1964. In March 1965 on her second Arctic patrol she further eclipsed her first ice patrol, penetrating 95 miles into the ice.
