Unique, wonderfully sculptural and meaningful Gothic church bible stand. This relatively large, hand carved antique Gothic Revival bible stand is another one of our recent rare finds. All handcrafted out of solid oak only, this church stand probably dates back to the mid 19th century. The quality of the carvings is outstanding and we have never seen a Gothic stand with this many carvings. The IHS (on the front), for Jesus, is superbly carved inside a large and deeply carved quatrefoil symbol which in turn is surrounded by the most beautifully flowing Gothic leaf patterns that you ever saw. However, what makes this ecclesiastical antique stand out from all other bible stands, are ofcourse the two large, hand carved, winged dragon-guard sculptures. Because of their size, quality and positioning on this church bible stand, your attention will immediately be drawn to them. We are not certain, but between their teeth they seem to be holding, what looks like, an ancient religious scroll. This church relic stands as strong and stable as the day it was handcrafted all those years ago and it has grown the most amazing patina. No matter where you decide to have this Gothic antique on display, its quality carvings and deeper meaning will never fail to impress. This probably unique and certainly antique, Gothic church bible stand is great value for money.
