Pair of Thai gilt bronze Buddhist gatekeeper male and female Teppanom kneeling sacred angels. With wonderful verdigris patina and gilt ceremonial costumes and jewellery.
Teppanom are mythogical angels, part of the Buddhist tradition in Thailand.
They first came to earth when Buddha reached enlightenment and became Buddha's protector, then guardians of religious temples, and are seen as protectors of the house and land of the owner.
