About the Item

Machine Age-style A.J. Nystrom of Chicago Military or Activity Globe composed of a spun metal blue orb with green slated land masses outlined in yellow. These globes were used by the military and NASA, in addition to serving as geographical learning tools for classrooms (hence the lack of identifying information on the land masses). They were intended to be written on using chalk. This example (circa 1940s) is in very nice condition for its age with light dimpling and one larger dent (13th picture) and minor scuffs and scratches throughout in addition to the heavy patina / oxidation to the metal base. Can be wall-mounted via a hole in the base, as shown, or sit tabletop. Impressive size: Globe itself: 21.63" Diameter Length including the meridian: 24.38" H: 26" Base diameter: 15"
