ZEN defined… a state of meditative calm in which one uses direct, intuitive insights as a way of thinking or acting. AAAhhhhhhh….. We definitely have something to give you some insight!!! (And to calm your decorative dilemma!!!!) This is a phenomenal vintage Chinese 8 panel Coromandel (a.k.a. Sri Lankan wood) black lacquered folding screen bearing intricate intaglio details of an Asian scenes gilded & embellished with texture including a marvelous palace filled with Geisha wearing flowing kimonos, and warriors on horseback surrounding the outer palace on one side of the panel and hand carved & colorfully painted stylized geese or waterfowl & surrounding foliage on the other. Each folding panel is connected by fabulous patinated brass hinges, and it stands upon unique eye-catching square brass foot caps at the base of each panel. It is absolutely STUNNING! Fun fact: the lacquer techniques for Coromandel screens is known as kuancai, which literally means “incised colors.” This emerged during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and was applied to screens to create incised, painted, and inlaid screens. Folding screens, also known as pingfeng, meaning: (ping-screen; blocking) (feng-breeze; wind) originated from ancient China, eventually spreading to the rest of East Asia. They were originally used to help hold back drafts in the home or they were placed in rooms to be used as a dressing screen for ladies. Now you’re an expert on folding screens!! LOL!!! And, any “expert” would know that this incredible 8 panel folding screen would make a beautiful room divider, a wonderful shield for a dressing area, or simply fabulous décor against a wall, hanging ON a wall, lifted on a stand behind your sofa, utilized in a bedroom as a large headboard, or fabulously floating in any room you choose. I could go on… SO many options and possibilities!! It’s versatile, it’s GORGEOUS, and it’s SCREAMING with marvelous Chinese magnificence!!! You know you need a dose of ZEN in your life! We ALL do… and YOU just found it!! The choice is easy… Make it YOURS!!!!

If you are a lover of arts and culture, we have the perfect plaques for you!! We have four marvelous cast bronze Asian figures articulating extraordinary expressions of what we believe to be visual arts, culinary arts, musical arts, and performance arts. Each cast bronze figure is mounted upon a rectangular freshly painted black plywood base plaque, each bearing differing patina or signs appropriate with age such as nicks or dings that we feel only enhance the beauty of their presence. As a matter of fact, this particular set of four was among my mother’s personal collection for many years, so it holds a special place in my heart for sure!! In our research we discovered that Gansu is a province in north-central China. Its city Jiayuguan is best known for the magnificent Great Wall. Awesome!! Each cast bronze figure exudes their own form of art, celebrating life and all of the beauty that comes with it. One holds a serving tray with a couple of glasses and a carafe… in my world there is probably a delicious red wine inside that carafe just waiting to pass through my lips!! Whatever it may be, it must be something lovely, delicious, and a bit mysterious! Another figure embraces an incredible sculpture that drapes from the tip of her shoulder, under her arm, and secretly swoops behind her. Behold… a vision of loveliness left to your imagination … a puzzling and optically pleasing piece of artistry. While another figure proudly plays a flute, twinkling their fingers across the keys… filling the air with joyful notes & sounds that tickle your ears… But let’s not leave out the last figure dancing blissfully to the beat… skipping and shuffling her bare feet in the sand. And did you notice everyone is dressed to the T’s!! Gorgeous cloaks, gowns, Hanfu, headdresses, obis, wraps, and jewels!! What a PARTY...
