Privacy Screen in Woven Cherry by Boyd & Allister
About the Item
This privacy screen in woven cherry was born out of a fascination with weaving wood. I have a background in fiber arts and wanted to explore weaving in wood. Wood is pliable but delicate when milled to be thin enough to weave and so a privacy screen was the natural choice to showcase woven wood. The slats for the woven panels are cut out of a single board whenever possible so that the grain and color of the screen match. We weave in a basket weave and vary the widths of the slats in the weft for visual interest. Each panel of the screen is 72” tall and 18” wide and they are joined with brass barrel hinges. The screen is priced with two panels but available in any number of panels and in a variety of woods. The finish is a natural oil and wax.

Boyd & Allister is a custom furniture studio located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We have been hand making furniture for designers and architects around the country since 2010. We custom make each piece using traditional joinery methods and hand select each piece of wood. We source our wood from small sawyers around the country who bring the same level of care to their craft as we bring to ours. Many of our designs are inspired by mid century masters; timeless with clean lines, allowing the beauty of the wood to shine.
