Shibayama Art, Meiji Era, Ebonized Wood, Lacquer, Japanese Two Panel Screen, Room Divider, Japan, 1890s A wonderful example of a Shibayama art room divider from the Meiji era circa 19th c., featuring intricate inlays of birds of prey, such as a hawk perched on a branch, rendered in mother-of-pearl and carved wood. The reverse side showcases a finely lacquered landscape, offering a tranquil contrast to the dynamic raptor imagery on the opposite side. Some pieces are missing, with inpainting present.
