Victorian Embossed Leather & Water Colour Folding Screen Room Divider
About the Item
We are delighted to offer this lovely Victorian oak framed room divider with embossed leather to one side and hand coloured antique prints to the other
What a find! This piece is a large example and is very much of the period. The leather embossed side shows a nautical scene of a male and female mermaids holding hands surrounded by the swirls of the ocean. The reverse side has various pictures, they look to me to be a mixture of water colours, some seem to be early plate prints that have been hand coloured, others, complete water colours, it’s hard to tell exactly due to the age
This is the most elegant example of this kind of work I have ever seen, the condition is also first class
