Fine Antique White Ground All-Over Design Lavar Kerman Rug in Rare Size
About the Item
Sometimes referred to as Kermanshah in the trade, rugs of this type are the finest nineteenth-century workshop weavings from the city of Kerman. Exquisitely woven using the softest quality wool available, fine antique Lavar Kermans such as this example are distinguished by the use of a delicate palette often on a light background. The infinite repeat pattern of multicoloured palmettes and rosettes against an ivory background with an ivory border is possibly the best design and colour combination I can think of for this rare type. The lovely size contributes greatly in making this a real jewel of a weaving.
