About the Item

Antique Ersari Turkmen torba with 'Salor' type design Circa 1900 Torba are shallow wall bags used mainly in tents or yurts for the storage of personal belongings, they were also used to decorate the sides of a camel in a wedding procession Often only the piled face survives and the plain weave backs have been removed This example has a well known design with a central large medallion, this style is found in Ersari, Saryk and Salor weavings The torba is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile Hand washed and ready for display Additional information: Place of Origin: Turkmenistan Period: Circa 1900 Size: 5ft 1in x 1ft 9in (154 x 54cm) Reference: H-453
