About the Item
Hand knotted in wool originating from East Turkestan circa 1890-1900, this antique rug connotes a Classic Khotan rug design with a Classic approach to transitional colorway celebrated in this Oriental rug family. Favoring the cloudband pattern in both the medallion and border patterns, the emphasis on this rustic gray-blue colorway complements the Classic red and gold-yellow hues with a distinction few pieces of this venerated family enjoy; a rare carpet further boasting ideal condition, an intriguing dimensionality in the movement of its juxtaposed cloudband and meandering borders, and subtle variations in definition among the patterns remarking an expert level of control in this large scale. A welcomed addition to the antique Khotan rug line in Rug & Kilim’s Antique & Vintage collection.
About the collection: Antique rugs have been in Josh’s resume since he began in the industry almost 40 years ago when he was already recognized for one of the largest oriental rug collections in the United States. We’re especially very proud of our vintage Kilims and Turkish rugs curated for our expansive collection of both area rugs and runners alike.
Rug & Kilim maintains our own facilities for cleaning and restoration exclusively for carpets we’ve sold to ensure their lasting beauty and care long after a piece leaves our collection.
