About the Item

These Chinese rugs were made solely for the residences of court dignitaries. In China, the carpet is only a furnishing element that gives richness and beauty to the rooms. The decoration and colors, which come from the same inspiration as porcelain, are an expression of balance and harmony. Our carpet is decorated with the flowers that decorate the enchanted gardens of the Chinese courts. The gardens arose either for pleasure or to impress, as in the great imperial gardens, or to relax and escape from the real world, as in the more intimate gardens created by poets, scholars, soldiers and merchants, both for reflection and prayer, therefore a contact with nature and the creator, as in the temples.
