19th Century Peking Hand-Knotted White and Blu Luxury Decoration Rug

About the Item

These rugs are characterized by the elegance of the tones and the refinement of the design that is linked to the art of decoration of the blue white porcelain of the Ming period. In our example the wool is particularly soft and silky, selected in its natural tones to create a light background in a uniform tone. The decoration of the border in shades of blue re-proposes the theme of Chinese gardens, which describe fantastic paths between flowers and bushes, rocks and ponds. These rugs were made exclusively for the residences of the court dignitaries: the use of the carpet in China started relatively late and imported from the Middle East, it was not part of the daily, it was considered a luxury item and used exclusively as decoration.
