About the Item
A rare and exquisite late 19th-century Indian Agra room-size rug, distinguished by its highly desirable near-square proportions and richly layered color palette. This finely hand-knotted piece features a classic allover Herati design woven in a deep brown-black field with abrash variations of pistachio green, resulting in a unique, nuanced background that has aged into a deep, moody green.
Vibrant design elements in red, pink, and saffron yellow add warmth and vitality, while the border—rendered in a regal saffron tone—features a traditional ram’s horn motif in cream, red, and brown, offering balance and definition to the field. The rug's near-square shape makes it an exceptional and versatile addition to any sophisticated interior, ideal for anchoring gallery-like rooms, formal lounges, or curated spaces.
