About the Item
Vintage Moroccan Boucherouite shag area rug is in a colorful checkered pattern. The many colors include green, blue, red, orange and many more. The word "Boucherouite" means rag or torn clothes in the Moroccan Arabic language. Vintage Moroccan "Boucherouite" rug was hand-woven entirely with cut-up pieces from the fabric of old clothes. This is providing the tribal women and their families settling down in the village to have a new source of income to support their families. The rug is designed to be fully functional on either side. The top side is woven similar to a rag or a shag rug. The back is flat-woven similar to a kilim.
