About the Item

This fine anatolian rug comes from the FETHIYE area on the west coast. Its main features in addition to the soft and shiny wool are the warm colors of the earth and the decoration that is more graceful than other carpets of Anatolian production. The floral motif is due to the commissions that came from Europe and Western influences in the decoration that began to breach the Islamic world. There remains, however, a rigid decoration structure divided into six compartments, which contain traditional decorative elements. Decidedly different and the border more flowery, but in harmony with the central elements. The colors are sunny and made with natural products of the area, such as carmine red extracted from a liquid very dense and intensely colored that the female mealybugs secrete to protect themselves from predators.
