About the Item

Unusual for the mustard yellow background this carpet decorated with comet-star motifs, the result of the artistic fantasy of the legendary Turkish artist Zeki Müren (Bursa 1931 -Smirne 1996). Active in areas ranging from classical and contemporary music, to poetry and acting, the artist specialized in Decorative Arts in Istanbul from 1950-1953. Zeki Müren in the 1950s-1960s created a series for his home on the Bosphorus of carpets, today objects sought after by collectors, which are an expression of his whimsical fantasy, decidedly against the current with the Turkish world of those years. His rugs are an expression of joy and life, where color is the master in harmony with decorations that are linked to more artistic experiences.
