Rare Antique Farahan Rug From Central Iran
This carpet has a most unusual Turkish design, which lends itself to a Giordes rug. However, it is woven using the Persian Knot and the knot character is that of Farahan. The beautiful aqua green field decorated with stylised animals and flower heads is framed with multiple borders. The abrushes in the field give the piece a lot of character. There is a repair as shown in the image and the selvages are rebound. It is evenly worn which is in keeping with the age of this carpet.
