Antique Kayseri Traditional Rug in Red and Gold Geometric Pattern by Rug & Kilim

About the Item

Originating from Turkey in 1910, this antique traditional Kayseri rug has a unique colorway orientation to complement its universal symmetry. Hand knotted in high-quality wool, the red background of the field elevates four repetitious but very subtly varied floral medallions in golden-yellow and lavender, wrapped by rare vertical spandrels continuing against the innermost wrapping border. These particular patterns show a rare choice of asymmetry to the beige and green colorways, which are not perfectly mirrored lie the other colorways in the flawlessly repeated borders, hosting lancet leaf, iris, lotus, and vine scroll florals symbols connecting to regeneration, liberty, rebirth, and beauty.
