About the Item

Period: Late 18th century Dimensions: 130 x 192 cm Region: Kula, Aegean Region, Ottoman Empire This elegant prayer niche Kula rug was meticulously woven in the late 18th century in the Kula district of the Aegean region. As one of the finest examples of Ottoman-period Anatolian rug artistry, it reflects the spiritual essence of traditional prayer rugs. The red field is adorned with a mihrab (prayer niche) design, enriched at the top with floral motifs on a blue background, while the border frames feature repeating geometric and floral patterns, creating a harmonious composition. The color palette is dominated by natural plant-dyed shades of red, blue, golden yellow, and beige. This rug is a rare cultural and artistic treasure, making it an exceptional choice for collections or interior spaces where a historical atmosphere is desired.
