Antique Wool Floral Sivas Rug Hand-woven in Turkey
About the Item
This traditional handwoven Turkish Sivas rug has a muted beige mil-fleur field, with complementary sage-gray spandrels, each enclosing delicate roundels, in a muted fox-brown linked palmette border, between complementary ornage vine stripes.
Named after Sivas, a city in North Central Turkey, Sivas rugs are often finely woven, tend to have soft colors tones, and feature patterns that are classically derived from Persian designs. Delicate small-scale repeating patterns, vibrant arabesques and medallions set over monochromatic fields are some of the traditional Persian designs re-interpreted in Sivas rugs.
