Hereke Rug Silk Souf Extra Fine
About the Item
This is a silk souf Hereke with metal threads woven in Turkey during the fourth quarter of the 20th century and measures 157 x 98 cm in size. This rug has a mihrab design with scriptures from the Quran. The field is decorated with palmettes connected with vines that are surrounded with large-scale cloud band motifs set a soft yellow background color. In the top left- and right-hand corners of the field are located vases with protruding vines and birds perched upon them. The main border is designed with cartouches that contain different verses from the Quran set on a ruby red background color accompanied with different flowers and arabesque motifs. The Hereke signature of this rug is located in the top left-hand corner showing its authenticity and quality. This rug has been preserved in perfect full pile condition retaining its original Kilim finishes and all of its silk fringes.
