Vintage Kars Rug with Four Medallions
About the Item
Some Kars carpets, as here, really show off their Caucasian sources. Here the subtly abrashed light red-brown field displays four and one half flattened octagonal red medallions, each with an ecru lozengoid focal motif. Hooks edge each medallion. Nothing else in the field. Sand border with polychromed floating herringbone trees. The medallions widen as one proceeds up the carpet. On wool, moderate/coarse weave. Chunky handle. Good condition.
