Vintage Tribal Kilim Rug with Polychrome Vertical Stripes

A graphic tribal kilim composed of two joined panels each containing an array of polychrome vertical stripes in a variety of natural colours. The result is a wool flat-weave with a mirror image pattern. What makes this example rather unique is the richness of the individual colors, obtained from natural dyes, as well the generous width of the vertical stripes. Furthermore, the quality of the individual dyes, which include a wonderful indigo blue and a clear coral red, are indicative of an early vintage. The piece is in pristine condition. The result is a wool flat-weave with a mirror image pattern having a central stripe that is different and wider than the others. What makes this example rather unique is the richness of the two colors, obtained from natural dyes, as well the generous width of the vertical stripes. Furthermore, the quality of the individual dyes, which include a wonderful emerald green obtained from the indigo plant and a clear madder red, are indicative of an early vintage.
