About the Item

Presenting this beautiful Mid-20th Century Vintage Turkish Oushak Area Rug, hand-knotted circa the mid-1900s. This captivating piece showcases a sophisticated open medallion pattern that exudes timeless charm and expansive appeal. The rug's field is imbued with a luminous abrash pale salmon color, creating a subtle play of tones that adds depth and character. A classic cream color border gracefully frames the design. Adding a touch of brilliant contrast, the corner spandrels feature a serene abrash pale French blue, which shimmers with a delightful luminosity. The central medallion, a focal point of refined artistry, is rendered in complementary shades of cream and warm brown. The striking border design further enhances the rug's appeal, featuring large geometric forms rendered in a rich palette of shades of blue, verdant green, soft pink, and earthy brown. Notably, the design elements throughout both the field and border are wonderfully reminiscent of the esteemed Serapi and Bakshaish rugs from Northwest Persia, particularly those from the mid-1800s, imbuing this Oushak with a unique cross-cultural aesthetic.
