About the Item

Acquired from an important estate some years ago in Madrid, this grand scale (6.4 x 2 meters / 21 x 6.5 feet) neoclassical runner carpet once furnished the hallway or stairway of a notable aristocratic palace in the city center. According to expert opinion, the design motif, richness of material and knotting technique place its manufacture sometime during the 19th century. Made with thick wool of red, yellow, green and bordered in brown, it will add regal elegance to any large space, offering up a cushioned and colorful walking experience fit for royalty or those who aspire. The carpet is in very good condition, has been professionally cleaned and moth-proofed, and is stored (and will ship) in the cleaner's protective plastic wrapping.
