About the Item

"Angel Veil Lake" is a group of seven rugs by Amsterdam-based Swedish artist Alfhild Külper in a pixelated combination of sky and navy blues. The yarn used in each rug is hand-spun and dyed, sourced from the finest producers in India and Nepal. With a combination of traditional tufting techniques and 3D embroidery, the artist transforms this raw material into three-dimensional topographical landscapes. The edges of each rug are hand-surged in coordinating wool and the backs are fully lined in a cotton twill. About Alfhild Külper Swedish artist and designer Alfhild Külper aims to create physical representations of the soft spots in our minds. Using a combination of traditional tufting techniques and 3D embroidery, Külper creates a domestic world of fuzzy furnishings imbued with personal memories and spirituality. A graduate of the prestigious Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, she spent ten years as head of design at the avant garde fashion house Viktor & Rolf. Using a mix of traditional tufting techniques with 3D embroidery, Külper crafts landscapes and figures from leftover wool from the textile industries of India, Nepal and the Netherlands that serve as abstract representations of memory and emotion, typically of feelings of joy. The artist has shown at The Cristel Ballroom Gallery (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), De School (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), Lise Braun Galerie (St. Tropez, France), and Transnatural Gallery (Amsterdam, the Netherlands). Her work has been published in Financial Times, The Sunday Times, Surface, Wired, and others.

ATOM4320 Hand Knotted Rug by Laroque Studio
Located in Geneve, CH
ATOM4320 hand knotted rug by Laroque Studio Hand knotted in Nepal Dimensions: 130 x 160cm Materials: 100% ECONYL yarn 100?knots?/?sq inch Think of ATOM4320 as a close-up look. So close that the image is blurry and all we can see are different atoms connected with one another. ATOM4320 carpet became the finalist of the GUILTLESSPLASTIC project launched by Rossana Orlandi, with the aims to raise awareness about the reusing and recycling of plastic. LAROQUE ST is a journey to a new discovery. The essence of our studio lies in constant experimentation with high-quality materials, exquisite artisanal craftsmanship and techniques. We look for elusive connections and new interpretations - we find new meanings and tell a story. The fluidity of our designs allows for any change in colors, materials, the scale of a pattern, the size and shape of the final product. With every new color or a new weaving technique begins a new journey. Knot by knot. It feels like a meditation. And yet this very complex process of carpet-weaving requires extremely high-skilled level of craftsmanship. The pile height can vary. A knot of silk may be found right next to a knot of wool. A palette of colors is infinite. Katy Pititskaya a founder & creative director of Laroque St*. Katy is an interior and product designer based in Moscow and Milan. She graduated from Moscow Architectural University with a degree in Architecture and has received a master’s degree in Interior and Living Design under the mentorship of Patricia Urquiola, from the Domus Academy in Milan.
