Royal House Antiques Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this stunning pair of original Victorian Maple & Co country house armchairs which are part of a suite Please note the delivery fee listed is just a guide, it covers within the M25 only for the UK and local Europe only for international, if you would like an accurate quote please send me your postcode and I’ll provide you with the exact price I have the matching sofa listed under my other items, it is not included in this sale These armchairs are just about as quintessentially English country house as you could hope to find, they have the inside back left legs stamped with the order numbers which was how Maple did it, the arms have the inside floating buttons and the pair are finished with the domed cups, I have had these armchairs maybe 3-4 times in my career These are quintessentially English country house fine seating, they would have been made originally for a grand study or boudoir. The peacock upholstery is original and although it has been professionally cleaned, being over 100 years old it is well faded and distressed, you can see the horse hair in places and the hessian base covers have been replaced I was planning on having these reupholstered in leather however I absolutely love original fabric so I have left them as they are The frames are structurally perfect, they are fully coil sprung including the seat bases, back rests, arms and front panels, this is the same kind of pocket springs you see on a mattress so you can imagine how comfortable they are Included in the sale is 3 pairs of arm covers Armchair dimensions Height:- 89cm Width:- 79cm Depth:- 95cm Seat height:- 36cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask Any questions please feel free to ask before you bid Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
