About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning pair of very rare, William Morris & Co Edinburgh stamped, his & hers Library armchairs in grey linen These are a very rare and highly collectable pair of period Victorian Morris & Co stamped armchairs. William Morris's work is literally world famous, I have only ever come across two other pieces, both satinwood desks, one of which has sold, the other is listed under my other items These chairs are large library armchairs, they are a his and hers pair as mentioned meaning one is slightly larger than the other, they have been recently refurbished to include new grey linen upholstery and castors, the mahogany has been washed back and lightly french polished The inside back leg of one chair is stamped with the serial number 3201 and the opposite leg is stamped very faintly Morris & Co Edinburgh, the stamps were difficult to picture however I have included a shot of each, you can see them easier in normal light / real life Condition wise, apart from one small transport mark I can see, they look to be in gallery ready condition Dimensions Height:- 105.5cm & 98.5cm Width:- 74.5cm Depth:- 101cm Seat height:- 46cm & 45.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please also ask any questions before you bid and not after, all of our items are sold as seen and as listed. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
