French Pair of Carved-Wood & Newly Upholstered Armchairs from the Early 20th C

About the Item

A French pair of carved-wood, newly upholstered armchairs from the early 20th century. This antique pair of fauteuils (armchairs) from France each feature gently arched top rails carved in a delicate floral motif, arms with padded manchettes and curled knuckles, and beautifully carved flowers adorning the knees. The scalloped skirt continues the sweet floral carved motif at its center. The chairs are presented on cabriole style legs. The generous seat and relaxed back have been newly upholstered in a neutral cotton duck, which pairs nicely with the creamy patinaed wood. This pair of early 20th century French fauteuils will make a comfortable and fashionable small seating arrangement, perhaps in a living room or bedroom.

A French pair of timeless and elegant Louis XVI style armchairs from the 19th century. This antique pair of chairs from France each features a shapely, upholstered back, with elegantly arched crest rail, all framed within molded wood trim. Carved wood arms, with manchette pads for comfort, terminate into scrolled knuckles. Front arm supports are embellished with acanthus-leaf carvings. And the skirting mimics the simplistic trim of the back edges, with flower-head carved accents just above the profiled knees.
