About the Item

Galassia armchair designed by Ferdinando Buzzi for Ferruccio Brunati , 70s. Structure in shockproof polystyrene and plastic coating, seat in cowhide leather. A valid testimony of the first trials, shockproof plastic in the field of furniture, this rare armchair produced in the 70s by Ferruccio Brunati and designed by Ferdinando Buzzi are a concrete proof of the success obtained in the experimentation of printed plastic in the field of furniture, which will then be abandoned later to give space to wood as the most used material for seating in the years to come. There are few testimonies still visible of this rare model part of the Brunati production catalog in the early 70’s, the few examples produced are a real rarity to be found in the market, a real collector’s item. The armchair have been restored respecting their original color, plastic shell in excellent condition and without defects, refodered cowhide cushions. Ferdinando Buzzi was born in 1931 and graduated in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. During his career, Buzzi has always combined teaching with professional practice. He has taught for a long time in the evening schools of Meda and has found a boost in the world of design through fruitful collaborations with important companies in the city of Meda, including Brunati, the Busnelli Industrial Group, Minotti, Giorgetti and Comfort. In 1981, his great competence and talent earned him the cover of the prestigious magazine "Vogue Casa".
