Jacques Adnet French Presidential Velvet Armchair, 1950s

About the Item

This 1950s sculptural armchair by Jacques Adnet showcases his distinctive blend of modernist geometry and refined French craftsmanship. Recently restored in a soft yellow golden velvet, the chair features dynamic cantilevered armrests and black enameled metal legs. About the Designer Jacques Adnet (1900–1984) was a visionary of French modernism and a key figure in Art Deco design. Renowned for his elegant use of leather, brass, and glass, Adnet collaborated with Hermès and led La Compagnie des Arts Français. His work reflects a seamless dialogue between classical materials and avant-garde design, making him a pioneer of 20th-century decorative arts. Why We Love It This piece is a perfect balance of architectural silhouette and plush texture. The armrests appear to float mid-air, giving a sense of lightness. • Desk Chair: Perfect for a writing desk in a bedroom, study, or boutique-style office. • Accent Chair: A statement piece in a living room or hallway. • Bedroom or dressing area: Lovely placed beside a vanity or as a reading corner accent. --- About our gallery We are an exhibition space and an online destination established by the passionate art director behind Jonathan Amar Studio. Our gallery presents a harmonious mix of iconic and engaging 20th-century pieces and bespoke contemporary lighting.
