About the Item
Pair 19th Century French Louis XVI Giltwood Armchairs ~ Fauteuils represent the epitome of the genre, with elegant contoured oval seat backs and generous seats surrounded by hand-carved giltwood for sublime opulence! The molded trim is primarily of the spiral ribbon design, accented by acanthus leaves at the tips and bases of the armrests, with rosettes on the plinth blocks above the tapered and fluted legs. A bow of ribbon appears at the crown of the seat for added drama. The upholstery is in very good condition, and is of a high-quality damascene variety to surround you in luxury, as well as help make the chairs incredible visual accents to any room!
