About the Item

An unusual pair of English walnut needlepoint upholstered George II style open armchairs, the shaped back with shepherd crook arms terminating in an oval seat. The chairs are supported by turned legs ending in pad feet. Made and signed by W. Charles Tozer. Charles Tozer was a retailer of high quality furniture specializing in early Georgian and Queen Anne walnut revival pieces. He was established at 25 Brook Street, London from the early 20th century until 1960 and was known for the quality of his workmanship and materials used.
