About the Item

Born in Bologna, Piretti (b.1940) studied at the city’s Istituto Statale d’Arte before joining manufacturer Anonima Castelli as a designer. His work married a space age sensibility with robust functionality, and many of his seating designs can be folded, stacked or adjusted to the user’s weight. The Plona is one of his best known designs. Its scooped square seat and folding aluminium frame exemplify Piretti’s ability to find comfort for the sitter without compromising on industrial character.
